Kris Eiden

Kris Eiden was appointed as the Department of Labor and Industry's deputy commissioner in 2011. She is an attorney who has worked in both the private and public sectors.

Ms. Eiden graduated from St. Cloud State University, magna cum laude in 1980 with a B.A. in public administration. She attended William Mitchell College of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 1988. In 1983 she was appointed assistant to the commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Commerce, and she became deputy commissioner in 1984. Ms. Eiden served in that position until 1991, when she entered private practice, representing clients primarily in regulatory matters.

Ms. Eiden served as chief deputy attorney general in the Minnesota Attorney General's Office from 2003 to 2007, and deputy attorney general for four years prior to that. She was an attorney in private practice from 1991 to 1998, primarily representing regulated businesses.
